You want your family to be safe and comfortable, especially at home. Your house should be your refuge from anything that may cause your children or other loved ones’ harm. Unfortunately, countless homes in America harbor a potentially dangerous intruder. This unwanted guest could be causing illness and discomfort without you even knowing about it. It is mold, and there are many places it might be hiding on your property. When inhaled, its spores can lead to a number of health issues, ranging from headaches to runny noses to more serious symptoms. If you’re concerned about your family’s well-being, it’s important to understand how invasive this particular problem can be.

Part of what makes mold so frustrating is that it could be growing almost anywhere. The typical home has a myriad of spots that offer perfect breeding places. By the time you become aware of it, mold may have spread elsewhere. Because the cleanup can become more complicated and expensive the longer you wait, you should know and check on all of the places it could be lurking around your house.

Although areas such as the bathroom and kitchen are major targets because of moisture, you may not know about some of the other prime locations for mold. These include around your air conditioner, near your dryer vent and even in the folds of your draperies. Basically, anywhere that’s dark, warm and moist can give those nasty spores a place to hang out and get comfy.

If you want to take active steps to rid your house of this threat, take a close look at the accompanying infographic. It provides a handy checklist you can use to check out all of the potential trouble spots around your home. Remember, mold can be treated, but you can’t fight it if you don’t know it exists in the first place.
